Total Film Magazine has a featured article on the coming Justice League movie, in which director Zack Snyder gives information on Cyborg and his relation to the Mother Box.
The Mother Box, for those familiar with the DC Comics especially as it pertains to the New Gods and Darkseid, is a device that allows interdimensional travel via “boom tubes”.
Now regarding Cyborg, the article details there are three Mother Boxes in Snyderverse’s Justice League / DC universe. Two remain a mystery, but the third Mother Box is actually Cyborg himself.
The Cyborg cameo during Batman vs. Superman revealed Cyborg’s father healing his son through use of a Mother Box. Snyder speaks:
Not unlike the MCU’s Infinity Stones, the League will be chasing a trio of MacGuffins – the powerful Mother Boxes – which were sent to our world and ended up in the possession of the Atlanteans, the Amazonians and mankind, three races represented by the tooled-up trifecta here. The location of two remain a mystery. But we already know what happened to mankind’s Mother Box – it’s seen imbuing Victor Stone, aka Cyborg, with his incredible abilities in BvS, though the luminscient weapon seen in this image is a new addition to Cyborg’s Swiss-army knife body.
And it seems Snyder’s is depending on team dynamics to give Justice League the edge cinematically speaking:
One of the more rewarding aspects of creating Justice League was having fun exploring the dynamic between this diverse group of larger-than-life characters with disparate backgrounds, ethics, and unique perspectives all trying to come together and work as a team.
It not only offers an opportunity for great drama and complex relationships, but it also often results in great fun. It’s an exciting concept to explore and it only gets better when you add the component of our incredibly talented cast – their chemistry really adds to that dynamic.
Justice League Synopsis reads:
Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of meta-humans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, this marks the big screen debut of the Justice League, featuring an all-star lineup: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.
Justice League is set for cinematic release on November 17th 2017
