Marvel + Sony’s Spider-Man film isn’t out and already there are supposed talks of spin-off films. Sony may just have plans for Silver Sable, who (if true) will exist in the same universal as the Web-crawler feature.
The news was confirmed by Sony studio chief Tom Rothman, who unveiled plans for an entire Spider-Man universe during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, sparking rumours about an upcoming film featuring the antiheroine.
For fans of the comics, Silver Sable is a mercenary who doesn’t have much in the ways of powers, but she sure can kick some ass, and she has teamed up with Spider-Man now and again
But here’s what Rothman said re relationship between Sony and Marvel:
It’s been fantastic, our relationship with Marvel. Sony has the ultimate authority. But we have deferred the creative lead to Marvel, because they know what they’re doing. We start shooting the new Spider-Man in Atlanta [in mid-June].
Silver Sable was one of the fabled films Sony had plans for when they owned the film rights to Spider-Man, but now that the franchise is shared betwixt Sony and Marvel, there may have been a bit of rejigging and possibly Silver Sable, and even Sinister Six is back on. But indubitably, Marvel and Sony’s focus is like steadily fixed on Homecoming.
Spider-Man: Homecoming comes to theatres in July 7th 2017
