Rosa Salazar cast in manga-film adaptation of “Alita Battle Angel”

Remember that manga-film adaptation of Alita Battle Angel that was in development? Yeah, well, it seems main casting is already underway, with director Robert Rodriguez announcing the good news.

Actor Rosa Salazar will be taking the lead in James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez’s adaptation of Alita Battle Angel.

Salazar, who starred in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, will play the lead role in the film directed by Robert Rodriguez about a cyborg bounty hunter who’s pretty kick-ass.

Based on the manga series by Yukito Kishiro, Battle Angel takes place in the 26th century and tells the story of an amnesiac female cyborg who is rescued from a scrapyard by a doctor, rebuilt with no memory of her previous life excepting her kickass martial arts skills, and becomes a bounty hunter tracking down vicious criminals.
