Marvel is set to follow up Ant-Man with sequel Ant-Man and The Wasp
Marvel was abuzz with news that MCU’s Phase Three of films will see the arrival of a Ant-Man sequel entitled Ant-Man and The Wasp, as if in answer to fan queries as to why the Wasp didn’t feature heavily in the feature.
Marvel was also key to point out that this was the first female heroine name placed in a MCU title. It also means the introduction of this new film in Phase 3 means some shifting around for other films release dates… again.
Black Panther, which just hired writer Joe Robert Cole, is being bumped up from July 8, 2018 to February 16, 2018, the earliest in a year a Marvel movie has ever debuted. And we are sure February in the film / Hollywoood arena is designated for films they feel won’t be as successful compared to summer blockbusters… “Dump Months” they call them.
Also Captain Marvel, the studio’s first solo female film, is getting a slight push back, from November 2, 2018 to March 8, 2019.
In any case, we’ll get to see Wasp do her thing. Which is awesome. But is it at the risk of shifting focus and potency of other films that have been in the works longer to perform well? Time will tell on that one.
Ant-Man and The Wasp is set for release on July 6th 2018
