It seems like the Devil is in the (leaked) details. Like Supergirl, Lucifer‘s pilot, the TV series based on the Vertigo Comic series has leaked online weeks prior to its offical release.
Unwatermarked HD versions have appeared up on torrent sites, which would suggest they are not review copies for in-house sampling. But could the reason behind the leak be a pre-emptive strike, which many perceived Supergirl‘s early leak to be to counteract negative perceptions. Of course Lucifer is no stranger to controversy, as a group of MOMS tried to shut it down before its release date.
So we suspect its a promotional tactic over sloppy security. It’s FOX, not Sony after all.
