It’s only been a few years since Christopher Nolan has completed the Dark Knight trilogy, but the Batman in the cinematic universe is far from done with the announcement that Ben Affleck and DC Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff John. Affleck, who is set to play the caped crusader in Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, would also be starring as the Batman in the standalone Batman film.
We hypothesised this would be a very likely outcome, with a possible Man Of Steel sequel also in the works which would likely build into the Justice League 2 feature planned. So we are talking 2018 earliest.
Affleck would shoot the Batman solo film once he wraps production on Live by Night. We’d take a guess as to who’d direct, but honestly DC Universe could use a bit of diversity when it comes to its director pool.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25th 2016
Justice League is slated for release on November 17th 2017
