DC Comics has been very blaze with Batman’s sidekick Boy Wonder Robin. He’s been killed off, abused, and generally having his balls busted and the mantle of the Robin being passed around like counterfeit monies.
But not when it comes to intellectual property. And in this case the aggressor comes in the form of pop star Rihanna who want to trademark her name. The real one. Which is Robyn. Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
Rihanna applied for the trademark for the name “Robyn”, which would be used for a fashion and cosmetics franchise, and “on-line non-downloadable general features magazines” and DC’s not too happy.
DC Comics’ claim is Rihanna trademarking the ‘Robyn’ name is trying to essentially piggyback on the fame set by the Batman sidekick, and could be mistaken for DC-owned ‘Robin’.
If Rihanna’s camp doesn’t respond to the opposition, or the case will be brought before trademark office to determine if DC has a valid case.
“So do you guys think that Rihanna’s ‘Robyn’ is too similar to DC’s ‘Robin’? Or is DC Comics reaching? Let us know in the comment section”
