For true fans of the Terminator, the penultimate episode was Terminator 2. Everything else kind of trails off into insignificance. I don’t care if they had James Cameron form his lips to say Terminator Genisys was a true successor to T2. Pure blasphemy. You were the guy that made history in 1984, man. How much they pay you to say that in that Terminator Genisys BTS video, Jesus…
But with recent news of Terminator Genisys trilogy being killed dead in its tracks (say it ain’t so) with Arnold Schwarzenegger no longer being involved, it looks like it is not quite hasta la vista for the franchise. Because nothing truly dies in Hollywood.
Skydance CEO David Ellison recently spoke with Collider during SXSW and provided an update on the Terminator franchise. It turns out they have apparently worked things out. Fans can expect another feature(s), or perhaps a TV series (which kinda happened already too and went like a fart into the night).
David Ellison had this to say:
I will say we have resolved the future of the franchise and believe me it’s an incredibly bright future. I think where it’s going will be the continuation of what the fans really wanted since T2. We have something this year that we will be announcing for the franchise. It’s something we’re incredibly excited about and we think is the direction it needs to head.
Well call me a man of little faith here Ellison. We just hope narrative is as great a motivator here as money.
