Green Lantern / Star Trek universes cross in comic miniseries The Spectrum War

With White Lantern travelling towards the proverbial white light, the Green Lantern corp strewn across the cosmos and ringless, lone wolf Hal Jordan being the last of his kind, and DC Comics cutting back on Green Lantern comic narrative series, it sure as hell was DC’s darkest night for the GL Corp.

But alas, there seems to be a silver-lining in the cosmic quasar cloud as GL boldly goes where no man has gone before. Recent news will have fans expecting an epic Green Lantern / Star Trek cross over comic title.

Set to be six-part episodic mini-series, Star Trek / Green Lantern: The Spectrum War looks to bring the two titanic franchises who have traversed the edges of the universe into one shared space, as announced at WonderCon. The series will be written by Mike Johnson and will have art by Angel Hernandez.

Description reads:

Set in Star Trek’s 23rd Century, the balance of the universe will be tested when the Green Lantern Corps’ Power Rings come into the possession of certain Star Trek characters while a dark and powerful evil looms around every corner. Only the combined power of the Green Lantern Corps and the Federation stand any chance of stopping those who worship evil’s might.

Bob Harras, DC Comics Editor-in-Chief said:

Green Lantern is one of the most popular, storied characters in the history of comic books and a modern DC Comics icon. An entire universe of Green Lanterns and other supporting characters have grown out from his original adventures in the 1940’s, and this series really showcases the intergalactic scope of the franchise.

IDW President and COO Greg Goldstein had this to say about the crossover comic:

We’ve looked forward to bringing these two iconic universes together for a long time. Star Trek and Green Lantern both share so many of the same science-fiction adventure themes and ideals, that a galaxy-spanning crossover like this is simply…logical.
