“Doom Patrol” finds Robotman’s voice in actor Brendan Fraser

As DC Comics steady builds up their DC Universe streaming service, with the likes of Young Justice: Outsiders and the Titans live-action series, news comes of another casting.

This time, it is for the spin-off Doom Patrol, and it looks like Robotman has a voice. And that voice will be portrayed by the actor Brendan Fraser.

The Mummy actor is set to voice the Robotman character, also known as Cliff Steele in the comics. Fraser will appear in flashback scenes as Cliff Steele. Riley Shanahan however has been cast as Robotman, who will physically portray the character transformed.

It’s been a minute since Fraser has appeared on screen, save for the likes of Audience Network’s Condor, FX’s Trust and Showtime’s The Affair. But it seems the actor is back for the business in the DC Universe.

This news follows recent Doom Patrol casting news of Joivan Wade as Cyborg, April Bowlby as Elasti-girl, Dwain Murphy as Negative Man.
 

In Doom Patrol, Victor Stone — who is hooked in to every computer in the world but struggles with the human side of connection — will assemble a group of outcasts (Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman, Crazy Jane and their leader, mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder) for a mission to the weirdest corners of the DC universe.

DC Universe is set to launch in the fall and will include original streaming series (with Titans first out of the gate), live-action and animated series and films from DC’s catalogue and a curated selection of new and classic DC Comics. The service’s original series also include a live-action Swamp Thing and the animated shows Young Justice: Outsiders and Harley Quinn.
