Anyone who knows me knows that when I was growing up, Conan the Barbarian was my shit. Particularly on Marvel Comics. The franchise has made a pilgrimage to the likes of Dark Horse Comics and the likes but it seems the bronze-framed Cimmerian has returned home. Conan the Barbarian is back at Marvel Comics in 2019.

Marvel Entertainment and Conan Properties International are excited to announce the iconic CONAN franchise will make its grand return to Marvel next year.

With over 650 issues from 1970 to 2000, Marvel brought fans the adventures of Conan The Barbarian, Conan the Adventurer, Conan the Savage, and Savage Sword of Conan, among other popular titles.

C.B. Cebulski, Editor-in-Chief of Marvel, spoke on the news of Conan’s return to the Marvel franchise:

From Barry Windsor-Smith to John Buscema to Neal Adams, a legendary lineup of amazing artists brought Conan to life in the pages of Marvel comics,” said “It’s a legacy we’re now going to live up to with the talent we have lined up for the Cimmerian barbarian’s homecoming in early 2019. We’re excited!

Fredrik Malmberg, President of Conan Properties International, had this to say:

We’re thrilled to be working with Marvel and look forward to the new adventures in store for Conan. As the most well-known and creative publisher in the industry, we think Marvel is a great fit for our stories.

With this deal, Marvel will again bring new and thrilling stories for Conan fans around the world. Details on upcoming comic book titles, collections, reprints, and creative teams will be shared at a later date.

The last we heard of Marvel and Conan was when the last Conan film came out starring Jason Momoa, and the threat of a lawsuit was floating around over infringing on Marvel’s depiction of the savage. But when your depiction hinges on the actual book its hard to make certain distinctions. But it seems with the return of Conan to Marvel, would this affect the long-since proposed plan for an Arnold Schwarzenegger reboot? And will this affect Conan Exiles at all?

“Hyped for the return of the Conan franchise to Marvel Comics? Can we expect him in the current MCU lol? I laugh but I bet this is an actual conversation over a mahogany table with the Hydra shield engraved in the centre. You saw the cover with Wolverine and Thor!
