ghostbusters. the action pixel. @theactionpixelIt would seem the hive over at Sony is buzzing with a supernatural frenzy as they look to reinvigorate the Ghostbusters’ franchise. With Paul Feig’s all-female version finishing principal photography and featuring Ghostbuster vets Annie Potts and Ernie Hudson, it seems Ghostbusters is going back to its roots yet again with news of an animated feature film being in the works.

Ivan Reitman, director and producer of the original two Ghostbusters movies, is said to be the producer of the animated Ghostbusters feature, along with Tom Pollock.

As to which Ghostbusters the animated feature will be based on is still anyone’s guess, whether it is based on the classic, Feig’s reboot or an entirely new concept.

ghostbusters. the action pixel. @theactionpixelThe Real Ghostbusters was the first animated piece to hit the Ghostbusters’ franchise in the form of a TV series, and was based on the original 1984 film that ran from 1986 to 1991. Following that, the Extreme Ghostbusters series came out late 1997 and lasted for a few months.

The Paul Feig-directed Ghostbusters is scheduled for release on July 15, 2016.
