Well, this is some… news. For you anime fans. Cowboy Bebop is pretty much anime staple for fans of Japanese animation and the series (and the 2001 animated movie that followed) has been critically acclaimed the world over since its release in 1998. And rightfully so.

Now news has come forward that the prolific franchise has a few things happening for it still. Namely a live-action remake that is said to be in the works.

The live-action tv series version will be helmed by Tomorrow Studios in a partnership between ITV Studios and Marty Adelstein. Executive producing will be Sunset Inc. — the studio responsible for the original animated iteration — as well as Midnight Radio, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Matthew Weinberg. Midnight Radio consists of Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg. Chris Yost will write the adaptation.

The series followed a ragtag team of bounty hunters and vagabonds amongst the stars, including ex mob-affiliate Spike Spiegel and ex-cop Jet Black. The series is essentially what brought about a new wave of Western Sci-fi anime to the forefront of the genre.

In any case, however you feel about live-action adaptation, the soundtrack for this better be Jazz-y as fuck.
