Netflix’s Castlevania, however short, has made an overall positive impact on fans when it went live on the streaming network in back in July 2017. Now we knew that with the audience feedback being what it was that Netflix would be coming back with a second season of the anime game-adaptation even before they announced it. But now, we have a release date.

The executive producer of the show – Warren Ellis – took to social media to announce that the series would be back Summer 2018. Castlevania Season 2 will be comprised of eight episodes, which doesn’t feel like an awful lot, but in all, honesty I’d rather a succinct, well-crafted narrative than a bunch of sloppily put together series. But we will have to wait to see.

Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar.

Castlevania Season 2 is slated to premiere exclusively on Netflix come Summer 2018
