Marvel Studios has revealed the new title and the first official image for the upcoming fourth installment of the Captain America franchise. The movie, which was previously known as Captain America 4, is now called Captain America: Brave New World. Little less Third Reich/conspiracy theory, a little more Aldous Huxley/DHC.

The studio shared the news on its Twitter account, along with a behind-the-scenes photo of stars Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford.

Check it out:

Captain America: Brave New World will be the first movie to feature Mackie as the lead, after he inherited the shield from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers in Avengers: Endgame and embraced his role as the new Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series on Disney+. The movie will continue Sam Wilson’s journey as the star-spangled hero, while also introducing Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who has become the U.S. president.

The movie will also bring back some familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns/Leader, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon II, and Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley/Black Captain America. Additionally, the movie will feature some new additions to the MCU, such as Shira Haas as Sabra, a member of an Israeli superhero team (reason for the film titles’ name change?), and Colby Lopez as a mysterious villain.

Captain America: Brave New World is co-written by Malcolm Spellman, who also served as the head writer and executive producer of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Dalan Musson, who wrote one of the episodes of the series. The movie is directed by Julius Onah, who previously helmed movies such as The Cloverfield Paradox and Luce.

The movie is set to hit theaters on May 3, 2024, as part of Phase Five of the MCU. It will be the fourth movie in the Captain America franchise, following Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), and Captain America: Civil War (2016).

Marvel fans are eagerly awaiting to see Mackie’s performance as the new Captain America, and how he will deal with the challenges and threats that await him in a brave new world.

More as things develop.

Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World is slated for cinematic release come May 3, 2024
