DC Comics, with all the trouble and bush fires they have been putting out lately, it seems they have managed to hit a sweet spot betwixt Snyder-verse and Gunn… Gunn-verse? And whilst we did believe that the test screening praise surrounding Blue Beetle was DC’s hype machine trying to sway the wayward fan of what was coming, the first official trailer for Blue Beetle hits different.

And honestly we are here for it. Dare we say Blue Beetle seems primed to have the same fun spirit one would expect from Marvel’s Spider-Man. And actor Xolo Maridueña is certainly in his element as the star of the titular Jaime Reyes. Hell, one could say MCU’s Spider-Man took inspiration from Young Justice’s Blue Beetle. But that is another argument for another day.

And whilst the first transformation is often only hinted in trailers and fully revealed in the feature, we get a good glimpse of when the Scarab alien tech takes over. And the sheer chaos and fear that ensues makes it all the more worth a watch.
