ENA: Dream BBQ may have experience some delays since its promised release in December 2022. A developers worst nightmare that is only second to delivering a substandard game. So when the official trailer hit, many curious types that were holding out to see this Steam game offering were made curiouser still. Hellish, wondrous, astral-level aesthetics tend to do that.

The ENA team released a statement over the delays the project has been experiencing:

As many of you may have noticed, we, unfortunately, weren’t able to release Dream BBQ in December 2022 as originally anticipated. This postponement was made due to the extensive amount of art and programming that the team has been undertaking in order to make the game as polished as possible. Like some of you may have seen through the previews we shared on Patreon last year, this project became more ambitious than it was initially supposed to be. We believe this is for the best and hope to deliver a completely new and exciting ENA experience. Despite setbacks in our schedule, we have some really exciting and unexpected collaborations on the way. We hope you look forward to this and more upon the game’s release this year. Thank you all so much for sticking with us despite the wait—this game couldn’t be made possible without your support! Special thanks to my good friend, Brian Zavala (Mizu Wolf), too who—despite the difficult circumstances in his personal life right now—put in his absolute best to make our vision for this trailer become a reality. We look forward to serving you all a truly sizzling ENA experience! Until then, please enjoy a sneak peek of what awaits you in ENA: Dream BBQ.

Namely why I never feel too disconcerted when delays occur due to needing more time to address the time and scope needed to do the artistic direction justice. And Ena is most certainly a dream. Feeling more like an high-brow indie animation than a game. And the visuals itself is arresting to say the least.

The ENA team may or may not be popping DMT everyday before work. Someone should really go and check up on them.
