Sony Pictures slice of the Marvel pie, presumably chocked full of tin-preserved pineapple chunks, has been stretched further with more news of Spider-verse spin-offs with the news of another cinema-destined movie based on the franchise entering the fray.
And who are we on about? Spoiler: Sony is known to scrape the barrel with the likes of Morbius being taken from D-list supporting character status to ‘A’, and it seems little has changed.
Sony is looking to bring life to the screen with Marvel’s Madame Web. Actor Dakota Johnson is set to star in the picture with a recent casting of Severance star Adam Scott.
Also starring is Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts and Tahar Rahim. S.J. Clarkson is on board to direct the Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless-penned screenplay.
Madame Web is often depicted in the comics as a elderly character plagued with myasthenia gravis, forcing her to be intravenously connected to a life-support system that resembles a spider-web. She has clairvoyant abilities that allow here to see the future.
More as things develop.
