It seems to be the year of the Devil for Marvel Studios as Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is about to make crater-like impact in the MCU, with his return in not one, but several planned MCU + Disney Plus series.
Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as the Kingpin are set to be reunited in the planned Daredevil: Born Again TV series. The series is said to be premiering in Spring 2024 on Disney Plus.
And one can only hope this will take on the dark nefarious nature of the comic narrative arc the TV series takes its namesake from. But whether the innate story of Born Again will conform to a natural R / MA / 18 rating, or whether the stakes will be stripped back to conform to the MCU tapestry is still to be witnessed.
The series is set to contain 18 episodes.
In any case, it will be interesting to see what Marvel does with the gift over at a Marvel-controlled eco-system.
But it is not just in his own flagship series. The Daredevil is also making an appearance in two other series. The already announced Hawkeye -spinoff series Echo, who has been a character known to be linked in the comics with the Daredevil character, will be seeing Hell Kitchen’s defender make an appearance.
New to the flurry of coming series to Disney Plus, the animated seriesSpider-Man: The Freshman Year will look to introduce Daredevil even more into the MCU. Writer and executive producer Jeff Trammell promised fans at Comic-Con that the new animated series will be full of surprises, as well as nods to Spider-Man’s early comic book days.
More as things develop.
