Did some undesirable algorithmic results got handed down? Could it have anything to do with the impending battle for character rights? Or just the run-of-the-mill rejigging. Anyone’s guess. But it seems Disney and Marvel has pushed back on the release of several of its Phase 4 films. Namely Doctor Strange‘s sequel – Doctor Strange and The Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Black Panther sequel – Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Admittedly the delays are nothing too extreme. Doctor Strange and The Multiverse of Madnesshas moved its release date from March 25 to May 6, 2022.
Thor: Love and Thunder has been delayed by 2 months essentially, its original May 6 release date now moved to July 8, 2022.
And Black Panther: Wakanda Forever gets a new release date of November 11, 2022, a huger bump than the others, as the original release date was set for July 8.
This shift has also affected the release schedules of The Marvels and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The Marvels has been postponed to early 2023. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawas bumped from Feb. 17 to July 28, 2023.
More as things develop.
