Hopefully avoiding anything Bandersnatch-y

Netflix dabbling in content inspired by the video game industry is not a foreign concept, with recent releases of the likes of the anime series and the coming movie/series inspired by Capcom’s Resident Evil.

However the law of osmosis seems to be at work as well as the streaming giant has its finger on the start button with plans of entering the gamersphere. Netflix has hired the former video game executive Mike Verdu to head their new game development department.

And considering Verdu was a prominent figure at EA who also previously was in charge of bringing developers and games to the Oculus VR ecosystem during his time at Facebook, his forte seems to be in kickstarting new technologies, departments, and franchises.

Now, being a streaming company, we suspect Netflix is banking on its household name and brand to propel a Stadia-esque platform in gaming, with mobile and indie gaming likely being the caveat. As far as the hypothesis goes, anyways, as Netflix has not given the extent of their plans.

More as things develop.
