Michael B. Jordan career seems to be strengthening the vein of behind-the-camera work as news comes he is set to be at the helm of developing a new project over at HBO Max, would you believe. And we are not talking about Statik Shock, though that is still happening. The new project is actually another DC project, one that once rumoured Michael B. Jordan to star as a titular DC legend… Superman.

Michael B Jordon is bringing a Black Superman to HBO Max, particularly referring the DC’s Earth-2 version of Supes – Val-Zod.

This is particularly different than Bad Robot and J.J. Abrams race-bending Clark Kent/Superman movie that is currently in the works, as Michael B. Jordan uses canon.

This is odd as J.J Abrams could have easily went for a Val-Zod story or Kalel aka Calvin Ellis for a black Supeman, which would have added more of an angle to any origins story that does not rehash what we’ve been inundated with.

In any case, Jordan’s Superman will likely be a mini-series on HBO Max and could potentially star Jordan as the titular hero, although he has shot down him playing Superman rumours before. Alternately, the project is being done under his Outliers Society banner, so production could be very well his wheelhouse whilst giving the Val-Zod role to a new up-and-comer or another actor.

More as things develop.
