As much as what if’s are a thing of ours (hey it really is) it seems Sony Pictures and Marvel’s are hard leaning into a multiverse exposition with the coming Spider-Man 3 movie. If at any moment you didn’t think the reports of Jamie Fox’s Electro, Tobe Macguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men, and Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock returning to this new, shared Marvel/Spider-Verse wasn’t proof enough of where Spider-Man 3 was heading, then maybe this will.
There has been much talk of Daredevil recently, mainly concerning the Daredevil centric characters making their way to Hawkeye TV Series, This spurred on some hope of actor Charlie Cox’s return as the blind vigilante ever since its cancellation after Season 3. But as the devil’s luck would have it, The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is said to be making a return… just not where we expect.
It is reported that Daredevil is coming to Spider-Man 3.
A side note worth noting is Marvel’s contract with Netflix that prevented the character from appearing in any non-Netflix series or film for at least two years after cancellation. This could explain why things have been quiet on the cancellation and resulting future of the Daredevil franchise from Marvel. But this resurgence maybe the start of something new. Albeit building on the success of the series using the same characters.
It would also be interesting to know if Netflix would have a say in a reprisal of Cox as Daredevil as well.
Nevertheless, this does send the heart of this fanboy fluttering, as we are sure after the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming that Peter Parker is going to need a damn good lawyer. And in the comics they are relatively seen as great friends despite being somewhat polar opposites. But most importantly, Vincent D’Onofrio’s dream, as ours, can be finally be honoured.
