WB has been making a few updates, understandably, to their release schedule of several upcoming movies as cinemas around the world are hemorrhaging due to the delay of production and release dates of new movies, with the world teetering on a second lockdown due to the spread of Covid-19.
Here’s our main takeaway of what films have been pushed back, and a few moved up:
Matrix 4 will now debut and move up to Wednesday, December 22, 2021 instead of latest-proposed April 1, 2022.
Andy Muschietti’s The Flash will go on Nov. 4, 2022 instead of June 3, 2022.
David Sandberg’s Shazam! 2: Fury of the Godsnew release date is slated for June 2, 2023. This new date will take the place of the initial November 4, 2022 release date.
As for Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson will have to wait a little longer in limbo before entering the DCEU as the movie has beentemporarily removed from its release schedule that was previously slated for December 22, 2021.
Legendary’s Duneis no longer going on December 18, 2020, but is taking the date of October 1, 2021.
The Batmanhad a few scares and delays of its own, as Robert Pattinson himself came down with the disease and production was stalled directly due to Covid-19. The release date was set to hit cinemas October 1, 2021 (now Dune‘s present release date). Now the movie will be released March 2022.
Hopefully with all these changes, Cinema will still be able to hold on despite 6+ months of hemorrhaging money. Sadly not even Tenet or the long-delayed The New Mutants could have helped bring back an audience post-Covid during this Pandemic.
