The fanfare surrounding all the Disney+ led Star Wars projects like The Mandalorian and the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars has become the highest points for the franchise in recent memory.

And even with that in mind, it seems Lucasfilm is now airing on the side of caution with news that the Obi-Wan series is put on hold. And by ‘on hold’ we mean the crew has been reportedly dismissed and the current old scripts are being totally dismantled and rewritten.

Ewan McGregor and director Deborah Chow, however, are still attached to the series.

This could understandably be interpreted as “panic” but the general consensus also the script overhauls is in an effort to shorten the series’ length from six episodes to four.

Another suggestion has been that the current state of the Obi-Wan narrative shares too many similarities to that of The Mandalorian. In any case, the rewrites should go someways to addressing any issues in the narrative department.

That is the hope anyway.
