Marvel post-Endgame Phase 4 has been churning a lot of previews and teasers on both sides of the aisle – i.e. streaming service Disney+ and cinema. And whilst most of the information that has been allowed to trickle through has been more-or-less positive, this tidbit seems to fall more on the negative side. Director Scott Derrickson, who is supposed to helm the second installment in the Doctor Strange franchise – Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – has dropped out of the project.

Again, as you probably have guessed, the official reason for the director’s departure from Doctor Strange 2 has been cited as “creative differences”.

In an official Marvel statement, Derrickson’s leaving Doctor Strange 2 as director was a mutual agreement:

Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson have amicably parted ways on Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness due to creative differences. We remain grateful to Scott for his contributions to the MCU.

Which is usually the politically correct way to say that someone was not taking direction from the guys who control the money. Derrickson, however, will remain on as producer for the movie, so it can not be all bad. Unless it is just one of those meaningless, satiating type of titles.
