As you know, Disney+ has set its course to employ every extensive bit of franchise under its umbrella to create an ecosystem of entertainment across the entire production pipeline from creation to distribution to streaming. Star Wars, a massive slice of the Disney pie first announced The Mandalorian which has already received critical acclaim.

In addition to that, adding on to the series in its arsenal was the announcement of Star Wars’ Obi-Wan Disney+ series. And since Ewan McGregor was announced to return to the titular role, more has been revealed by the actor as to what to expect come premiere.

Speaking to Men’s Journal, he confirmed that the series will consist of six, one-hour episodes as well as just where the series will fit in the current Star Wars timeline:

The storyline sits between Episode III and Episode IV. [Last time,] the Jedi Order was falling apart. It will be interesting to take a character we know in a way and show him—well, his arc will be quite interesting, I think. Dealing with that the fact that all the Jedi were slaughtered with the end of Episode III. It’s quite something to get over.

He also spoke on channeling more of Alec Guinness portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi:

I want to get closer and closer to how Obi-Wan felt while Alec Guinness was playing him. I feel like I’m grayer and nearer him in age, so it’ll be easier to do that.

And to think that the rumblings of an Obi-Wan project were happening for years, it also has been revealed Ewan McGregor was privy to things for four years and felt ‘relief’ that the news was finally out and that he no longer had to lie about it.

And with the actor’s return to the public eye starring in the coming DC Comics’ Birds Of Prey movie as well as The Shining-sequel Doctor Sleep, Ewan McGregor will surely bring his A-game for the Disney+ Obi-Wan series.
