“Suicide Squad” full cast list revealed

Even as the Birds Of Prey hover over a taciturn DC Comics PR machine, James Gunn has taken to the internet shying away from his usual jokes to reveal the cast for the forthcoming Suicide Squad ‘sequel’.

The confirmed cast list for The Suicide Squad includes David Dastamalchian, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joaquín Cosío, Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, and Michael Rooker.

And as vast and special as the cast names are, the director comically advises us with a quip that we should not get too attached to anyone listed.

The long list, however, other than confirm the soft reboot of the Suicide Squad, essentially separating itself from the divisive first film, also has an adverse effect. Having all the earmarks of a cameo-chocked one-off that often acts as a distraction from a narrative’s failings in plot and character.
