The sagacity and prolific undertaking of Game Of Throne’s seems to have gotten the attention of Disney and Lucasfilm as news comes out of a new direction being employed by the entertainment conglomerate with regards to Star Wars.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the creators of the prolific Game Of Thrones series on HBO, has been pegged to work on the next Star Wars Movie post- Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker.

Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke on the news:

We did a deal with David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who are famous for Game of Thrones, and the next movie we release will be theirs. We’re not saying anything more about that,

Now, following hot off the heels of a recent rumour that the planned Star Wars trilogy being spearheaded by Rian Johnson has recently been cancelled, it looks like Disney is near-scrambling to plant the right steps in propelling the Star Wars franchise forward.

Nevertheless, if the Johnson-trilogy is cancelled, GoT-alum already have an impressive track record handling the lore of entire universes. Star Wars would in that sense be in their ally. Now whether they will be allowed to create whole new characters or remix and rehash the same old we feel is more up to Lucasfilm and their hold on the creative reigns.

Disney recently announced release dates for three untitled Star Wars movies that will not get released for some time after Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker. The first yet to be titles Star Wars film has a set date of December 16, 2022. The second untitled Star Wars film has a set date of December 20, 2024. The third untitled Star Wars film has a set date of December 26, 2026.
