Following Kombat Pack one that featured Friday The 13th Jason Voorhees and The Predator, Mortal Kombat X, released the trailer for Kombat Pack 2, featuring the gods of gore including the Xenomorph and Texas Chainsaw Massacre‘s Leatherface!

Description reads:

Four new playable characters are coming to Mortal Kombat X in Kombat Pack 2!

The new guest characters include Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror film series and the Xenomorph from the classic sci-fi horror film franchise Alien.

Additional characters include classic Mortal Kombat characters Bo Rai Cho, master of the drunken fist, and series favorites Cyrax, Sektor and Robot Smoke in the form of new Kombatant, Tri-Borg.

But apparently not all fans are satisfied, as Ed Boon, Netherealm’s top dog took on some fan criticism over horror movie villain “Leatherface” being added as a character.

Boon took to Twitter:

“We hear ya…wish we could give everyone their favourites. :'(“

Can’t please everybody it seems. But the real controversy comes when you consider why Leatherface would be added to MKX. NetherRealm Studios director Brian Chard admitted that such decisions are made by “lots of people” involved in development and the game’s publishers at Warner Bros., but originally fans collectively weren’t fond of having the guy on MKX. Could it have anything to do with Lionsgate Films plans to release a “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” film, called “Leatherface,” in 2016? Maybe.
And if that is the case, the unique fan-centric selection of MKX DLC characters up to this point has been thwarted by corporate interest (Warner Bros. are behind both MKX and the Leatherface film).

Mortal Kombat X is available now on PS4, Xbox One, PC and mobile devices. Kombat Pack 2 will be released in 2016.
