Sad news has hit the gaming community as chief executive Satoru Iwata has passaed away, having suffered from bile duct cancer, at the age of 55.
Several months earlier we have seen Nintendo under his guidance make efforts to build on classic gaming and opening up possibilities for the brand from abandoning their consoles-only policy to partnering up with DeNa to enter into the mobile gaming arena:
The world is changing, so any company that is not coping with the change will fall into decline
In 2014, Iwata took paycheck cut for several months when money makers like Donkey Kong and Pokemon franchises suffered a loss against now prominent console giants like Playstation and Xbox.
Truly as sad day for gaming, and Nintendo have not posted anything in the way of corporate news via Twitter out of reverence:
You’ll be missed #RIPIwata. Not only was a great CEO, but he was a developer and creative to his very core. Thank you for a thing great memories that will last generations.
On my business card, I am a corp. president. In my mind, I am a game dev. But in my heart, I am a gamer.
