Lucifer’s been getting some blowback from media watchdog One Million Moms, who have backed a petition to get the FOX show TV series cancelled.
Reasons for the move? The group claims the show ‘mischaracterises’ Satan and amounts to mockery of the Holy Bible.
Neil Gaiman, the creator of the Vertigo comic character weighed in on the petition by reffering to similar efforts to boycott Sandman because it featured Gay / Bi / Transgendered characters. And it seems Gaiman ain’t exactly worried:
Ah. It seems like only yesterday (but it was 1991) that the “Concerned Mothers of America” announced that they were boycotting SANDMAN because it contained Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans characters. It was Wanda that upset them most: the idea of a Trans Woman in a comic book… They told us they were organising a boycott of SANDMAN, which they would only stop if we wrote to the American Family Association and promised to reform.
I wonder if they noticed it didn’t work last time, either…

The Devil has come to Los Angeles…
Based upon the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, LUCIFER is the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, LUCIFER MORNINGSTAR (Tom Ellis, “Merlin”) has abandoned his throne and retired to L.A., where he owns Lux, an upscale nightclub.
Lucifer is slated to air on FOX in 2016
“12,001 as of June 1. That’s a whole lot of pissed-off moms. So do you think “Lucifer” is over the top? A Mockery of the Bible and Christianity? Or just another classic graphic novel making its way to the big screen? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.”
