And most interestingly, Rick comes full circle and meets the very first (human) being he met after awakening from his coma: Morgan. Last we saw Morgan in the series he was a few colours short of a crayon box, and carving those cryptic symbols into the trees. Yeah, well the end of the world will kinda do that to you.

Words from Robert Kirkman as he spoke at the 2015 National Association of Broadcasters Show alongside AMC president Charlie Collier and Stephen Yeun (Glenn):

Having Rick and Morgan together, finally, again is a huge deal, and it’s definitely going to be a big part of Season 6… Now it’s a very different Rick and a very different Morgan who are going to have a completely different relationship. And it’s the questions of how they’re going to interact, how they’re going to work together — if they’re going to work together — and what comes from those interactions is going to be basically the spine of season six

Splendid. And what about Glenn’s future. He’s certainly top tier zombie survival strategist, but according to Kirkman, not even he is safe from what could potentially happen, as death’s coming hard and fast (phrasing) in the next season:

The way that we make the show — the writers and everybody really want to focus on making things poignant and purposeful and meaningful. So if it were for Glenn to go, then it’s probably going to be awesome.

No Kirkman, ‘awesome’ is the wrong adjective in this situation.

And with the Walking Dead spin-off Fear the Walking Dead hitting us with a trailer with the season finale of The Walking Dead, we can pretty much ascertain that TWD’s reign is here to stay way into 2016.
