star wars, j.j abrams, director , disney, lucasfilm, the force awakens, the action pixel, entertainment on tap,Star Wars may be revving all gears to bring us an epic showdown betwixt dark and light in December with The Last Jedi, but beyond this and Han Solo (and those other spin-off ideas) comes very interesting, and safe to say, welcomed news. Star Wars is set to introduce a new narrative arc – a new trilogy.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s director Rian Johnson will be at the helm for this expansion alongside producer Ram Bergman.

Lucasfilm’s head-honcho Kathleen Kennedy had this to say:

We all loved working with Rian on The Last Jedi. He [Rian Johnson]’s a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy

So by all assumptions, the Disney / Lucasfilm team are pretty confident you’ll love The Last Jedi.

More news as things develop.

Til then…

Solo: A Star Wars Story is out May 25, 2018 and director J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX out Dec. 20, 2019

What do you guys think this arc will be about? Will it carry on from the conclusion of Star Wars’ latest bout of films or start anew with wholly different settings and backgrounds? Tell us in the comment section + via Twitter @TheActionPixel
