Recent turmoil in the Star Wars universe had director Colin Trevorrow being made to leave Star Wars: Episode IX earlier this month over script issues. Now we learn he has been replaced by writer and director J.J. Abrams.
“With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy,” said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy in a statement.
Now that the Force Awakens director is back in the mix, we can also expect some delay on release dates.
The new release date has been pushed back to December 20, 2019, later than the previous May 2019 release date.
Lens flares at the ready.
