Zack Snyder argues his case for Man Of Steel destruction

batman v superman. The Action Pixel. @theactionpixelIn recent interviews with Entertainment Weekly, Snyder’s wanton destruction and casualties portrayed in Man of Steel (except for Lois Lane, god forbid she dies while the rest of the world lives on) has become a talking point yet again. This time Snyder and Brucey-Bruce aka Ben Affleck came to the defence of the impenetrable Man Of Steel.

Affleck was quoted as saying:

One of the things I liked was Zack’s idea of showing accountability and the consequences of violence and seeing that there are real people in those buildings. And in fact, one of those buildings was Bruce Wayne’s building so he knew people who died in that Black Zero event.

And with Batman said to be portrayed as a tired, ageing crusader in Dawn Of Justice, Bruce Wayne facing an alien who in part caused such wanton destruction to befall the earth, including the destruction of Wayne tower in the fight scene in Man Of Steel (little obvious easter egg there), it seems Supes’ presence does not sit well with the big lug.

Snyder himself stated that the idea of “superheroes knock around” with no consequences doesn’t fit into his thesis of Superman:

There are other superhero movies where they joke about how basically no one’s getting hurt. That’s not us. What is that message? That’s it’s okay that there’s this massive destruction with zero consequence for anyone?

So it seems more destruction is on her way then with Dawn Of Justice.

“We gotcha Snyder… wanton destruction and casualties were never the real issue… not with us anyway. But if Superman can easily block out the horrors of a mass flattened urban cityscape and share a passionate kiss with Earth-girl Lois Lane amidst fresh dead bodies of men women and children…. well I guess we can black out and forget Kal-El was a total douche. Or maybe easing off the saturation would have made it better”
