FOX passes on “Black Lightning”, but the DC Comics TV series finds a new home

Black Lightning, as you guys remembered has a tv series / pilot that has been green lit. The DC Comic series was slated to air on FOX and things seemed to be well on its way, with the pilot backed by producer Greg Berlanti, and The Game’s Salim and Mara Brock Akil.

We’ve learnt however that FOX has passed producing the series, citing that they had a pretty full spot with DC’s Gotham and Lucifer, not to mention Marvel’s Legion and coming onslaught of X-Men-inspired TV series, including the New Mutants.

But fear not, as Black Lightning strikes in a different location. The series will be coming to the first place we thought the series would have aired seeing Greg Berlanti’s involvement – the CW Network.

That DC crossover event the CW always have during the festive season is going to just get bigger and dare I say cornily – more electric. Sorry. Promise I won’t do that again.

Black Lightning Synopsis reads:

Black Lightning centres on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.
