CW picks up Archie Comic “Riverdale” TV series

Looks like another comic veteran is about to debut as a comic TV series over on the CW network, as the channel has picked up the live-action based on the Archie Comic series, Riverdale.

Archie Comics Chief Creative Officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is set to be the main writer of the TV series and production spearheaded by Warner Brothers Studios and Berlanti Productions.

The series is said to be a “subversive take on the classic Archie mythos”, and we can expect to see greatest love triangle in comic book history- Archie, Betty (the girl next door) and Veronica (rich socialite). And besides them, Riverdale will be bringing other characters from the Archie Comics Universe, including Josie and the Pussycats.

Archie celebrates it’s 75th anniversary this year, and have gone through a bit of a rebrand, so it looks like it’s upwards and onwards for the classic comic series as the set to cross over on to the mini-silver screen.
