Common rumoured to play Black Manta in Suicide Squad

Rapper and Selma Actor Common (real name Lonnie Rashid Lynn) is set to be part of Suicide Squad. His role is as of yet not known, but rumour has surfaced his role is that of non-other than Black Manta.

Though home to the Aquaman franchise as the Sea King’s nemesis, Black Manta’s character does have a history with the Suicide Squad in the comics in DC Comics New 52 narrative franchise. In this narrative arc, Black Manta get approached by Amanda Waller (to be played by Viola Davis in the film) whilst in prison to join the Suicide Squad. We guess he turns it down seeing he’s not made the press release photoshoot.

David Ayer is directing Suicide Squad which is set to star Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc and Jared Leto as The Joker.

Jesse Eisenberg is also expected to reprise his upcoming role as Lex Luthor.
